Subject: paint equivalent? for Bordeaux Red Metallic (burgundy) '90 Carat
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Want to patch up some spots on my "90 Carat - Bordeaux Red Metallic (burgundy). Went to the parts counter at our local VW dealership .....was told for around $15.00 I could get a small one or two ounce bottle, special order, a week if in stock..... no thanks.....Then went to two local auto stores (ACME AUTO and NAPA in our area) where they had a plenty of spray cans on display.... Spray cans around $5.00 and a 4 -6 ounce can of paint for even less... my kind of places

Problem is that in one store the Vanagon wasn't listed in the paint code book and in the other my '90 burgundy Carat was listed but with no matching bottle code or number. There are about 6 cans of burgundy paint that seem to almost match my Van's color. Cap colors are too close to choose from or possibly too inaccurate in reality.

Does anyone know of a maching burgundy paint that was used on one or more American automobiles in the past 10 years? I could just buy that one.

Or is there a universal code for mixing paints that I could access, check, and find a match?

thanks
