Hey Stan, Maybe you can find that kind of pricing way down yonder, but for those of us on the left coast that seems like a bit of a deal. A $500 Westy with a bum ticker but in otherwise good condition would be a steal in Seattle. I think that LaLa land might be cheaper in that respect just from a quantity standpoint. I paid $3,500 for our 82 and feel that I got an average deal on it for this area. I've seen rattle traps that run going for $2-3,000. $1,000 seems to be the starting point for ANY Westy in the Seattle area, running or not.

Mark 82 Westy Chris: I really like your take on this bargain 81 Westy. Buy cheap and spend two to ten thousand dollars and still have an 81 Westy. Good thinking ........... why not just buy a nice 81 Westy for a few hundred more.
