Hello Fellow Vanagonees, My 84 Westy automatic transmission is leaking very badly and it is time for a repair job. TPO seems to have tried to seal the joint between the final drive and the automatic transmission from the outside with silicone rubber. I am loosing ATF at quite a high rate and leaving a mess in everyone's drive way. I have checked to be sure nothing is leaking either direction from the differential and that seems OK. Is this just the sealing ring between the final drive and the transmission or should I be expecting other surprises when I take them out? The transmission is working fine - as long as I keep the ATF fluid topped up. Any comments/suggestions will be appreciated, Tom 84 Westy and 85 Vanagon |
