The European version is the 2109cc DJ wasserboxer (Digijet) running a surprising 10.5:1 CR standard and giving 11/112 BHP. I've got one on my '89 Syncro. Never heard of the 2.5L, this could not be a Wasserboxer, surely? Its likely a South African 5 cylinder Audi lump.
