I bit the bullet recently with my van. Just buy the best AT kit you can afford, and get it to a good rebuilder. The guy I took it to cleaned the whole thing so good, i could eat off of it, and i had to replace the differential, too. Cleanliness above all with auto transmissions. The case shouldn't be bad, just the seals, unless it was previously pounded in, then you're in trouble. Good luck.
