Some Ford and GM cars > used to have the gas filler behind the license plate. when volkswagen first brought the vanagon to the u.s., and Road & Track got one for testing, the very first time they had an attendant fill up the gas tank, it happened. luckily, the attendant mentioned that he had only put about 0.2 gallon into the tank. that kinda clued the R&T folks that something was wrong. the gas station drained the oil and flushed it and refilled it. then they filled the gas tank as they should have. :) but they likely would not have been so nice if it had been you or me. :( |
