Hello. I've just replaced my cylinder head and can't get my '83.5 westy engine to idle. Perhaps I didn't adjust the valves correctly? The Bentley didn't have much info. I went down to Sears and bought a 1 1/4" socket and put this on the main crankshaft nut in order to turn cylinder 1 to TDC. Basically, the notch was in line with the distributor. After adjusting the valves on cylinder 1, I turned the crankshaft nut 90 degrees _counterclockwise_ and adjusted cylinder 2, then another 90 degrees _counterclockwise_ and did cylinder 3. Is this the wrong procedure? What is the right thing to do? If this is not the source of my problem, another issue is that I did not change the fuel injection seals. Could this be the problem I have with no idle? When I turn the big idle screw, it doesn't make a difference. Should clockwise speed up the idle? thanks. -- Craig |
