<< I'm flying to Panama City, Panama on July 8th to pick up my westy which has been living there for over a year. My trip will take me through Central America up to San Francisco by the beginning of August. I would like to leave the van there for a year and return next summer to drive up to Alaska. Anyone have any suggestions as to where I can store a van for a year and have it turned on every once in a while? >>

Tyler,

That will depend on how much you are willing to spend. A year's worth of car storage can cost you a small fortune in San Francisco proper. You can reduce your cost in half by going out of the main SF area. Just to give you the opposite extreme in pricing, some down garages charge $5 for every 20 minutes. Dead storage will cost you as low as $50 a month for outdoor storage outside of the immediate city limits. Indoor may run $75-$100. These are just ballpark figures for unattended storage. If you want someone to start it once in a while, you will have to bribe some listee to look at your vehicle once in a while. Hmmm...
