Subject: Fw: Alternative mufflers in place of OEM etc..
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="Windows-1252"

A few years ago I was in the position of needing to replace my Westy's corroded gold plated ($$), diamond encrusted ($$) stock VW muffler with a new gold plated ($$), diamond encrusted ($$) VW muffler or another brand. I chose to go with a Canadian Tire muffler. Six years later, the muffler is still going strong with a lifetime guarantee to boot.

Unfortunately, there's no after market replacement for the hangers, which are ultra expensive. :(

| I wonder if any of you have experience using a generic muffler in place of the stock. | | I'd think that the inlet and outlet sizes need to be the same as stock, and the body of the muffler should be about the same shape/dimension as the stock. | | Suppose the above parameters were met in a generic muffler - could it be used? |
