Subject: How is coolant getting to exhaust???
Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII

I've recently reassembled my cylinder heads for the second time in a week and I am very sad because it is still aggressively leaking coolant from the exhaust port near cylinder 1. See the pain here:

http://communitybuilders.dhs.org/craigoda/vw/cylinderhead/index.html

I carefully cleaned all surfaces near the green o-ring and aluminum compression ring. I can't find any crack. Though, I did not yet take the head to a shop to be tested. I can't figure out how coolant would get to the exahust even if there was a crack. there is no coolant in the head itself right?

What would cause this much coolant to get to the exhaust? I feel it is a crack, but when I look at the head, it looks fine and I looked very carefully.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

The inner round surface of the head where it mates with the cylinder sleeve looks fine. This last time, I even put hylomar sealant on the green o-ring as an extra precaution.

If I stick my finger into the exhaust port of the head, it is filled with coolant.

When I took the heads off the cylinder sleeves, I had to pry it off with wedges. Is it possible that I warped the cylinder sleeves?
