I have used a quart of oil stabilizer with my vanagon with good results over ther last 10K miles. I run with 20W50 castrol.

My engine has 95K miles on it and has been babied since new.

With the oil stabilizer I get no warning buzzer, apparently because the stabilizer has increased the viscosity sufficently to prevent the thinning of the oil after a hot run.
