Subject: Why I hate my Vanagon
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

1. It left my wife and I stranded AGAIN about 150 KM from home at 10:00 PM (we just got home now!) - and it ruined our plans to participate in our 1st sailing regatta;

2. 2 weeks ago it stranded us in Snow Lake until I got the starter problem resolved;

3. It is totally unreliable as a vehicle, no matter how much care and attention and money I throw at it! And I actually maintain it - not just fix it when it breaks!

So what happened this time?

I'm driving along at about 100 KM/hr (60 MPH) and all of a sudden the engine went "vroooom", and the engine seemed to get disconnected from the drive wheels.

I stop the car and engine - and try to restart it, and it makes a clanging sound, like the flywheel is disconnected fron the engine. The engine is not being turned.

It sounds, "expensive".

I am at my witts end with this thing.
