Woke early and bought a disty cap & rotor and new air filter. A few length of various dia hoses and found a shade tree in the park (That or the sunny street in from my house). Replace any vacuum line I haven't already and the air hoses for EGR and cold start (need to get better ones soon). Loosened the idle set screw 1.5 turns and moved timing close to TDC. Worked at getting a smooth Idle at 800 with the stabilizer removed then brought timing to 5 deg ATDC; the mark on the front rim of the pulley a bit to the left of the rear mark. Lined this mark up with the seem in the engine. Played with the idle to get a steday 800 wouldn't go any higher. Then went driving.

Everything worked! No stalling, smooth quiet idle and great drivability. I was stubborn in not replacing these lines sooner and will keep them in tact. Now that I have finally reached a known state of operation I feel great and will sleep better at night. Not to mention have more confidence driving it.

After I reported this success my buddy said "Now what are you going to do?" Oh let's see: rear brakes, tranny oil, suspension bushings, left rocker panel and side panel, paint, westy roof gasket, and I suppose I can come up with a few more.

Thanks for all your help.
