Subject: new syncro owner, general maintenance questions.
Content-type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1"

hello all.

just had my '87 syncro delivered. Woo Hoo! I love it! I live in new york city, when I parked it out front of my apt, before I had a chance to scrape the "for sale..." off the windows, 3 people asked me if they could buy it. (cool!)

forgive me for asking some perhaps obvious questions, but....

1. oil changes: is it cool for me to take it over to jiffylube and have them do their thing on it? I saw in the archives about people swearing by the official VW service change. what is the wisdom of the list?

2. fuel injector cleaning fuel additives: is this stuff okay to use? I notice a little hesitation at low rpm (2.5-3.5k) and was hoping perhaps this stuff will smooth out the acceleration. for $3 I can't resist trying it, but I donšt want to mess stuff up.

3. I saw in the auto parts store oil "for older engines" which says it conditions seals & cleans stuff up. whaddaya think?

4. anybody know these guys: jeffrey clark, ross boundine if so, tell them I just bought their old syncro, and I kiss them!!

regards to the vanagods!

jax (proud new owner of the urban vanagon)
