First, 3500 RPM is not "low" RPM for your engine. Several list members have horror stories about quick oil change places, involving damage from improper lifting, stripped drain plugs, etc. Use a good synthetic oil. If your van is leaking oil or burning oil, fix it. Most quality gasoline has additives to keep the injectors clean. It's likely that something else is causing the hesitation.

1. oil changes: is it cool for me to take it over to jiffylube and have them do their thing on it? I saw in the archives about people swearing by the official VW service change. what is the wisdom of the list?

2. fuel injector cleaning fuel additives: is this stuff okay to use? I notice a little hesitation at low rpm (2.5-3.5k) and was hoping perhaps this stuff will smooth out the acceleration. for $3 I can't resist trying it, but I donšt want to mess stuff up.

3. I saw in the auto parts store oil "for older engines" which says it conditions seals & cleans stuff up. whaddaya think?
