Nope. Hell is a town in Michigan, a bit northwest of Detroit. As for 100 degrees, that's pretty much the norm around here in early July before the monsoons hit. Just for the record, my '81 Westy also has never had any problems with the heat here, and we know heat in Arizona, not to mention hills. I can see a 4000' elevation change in 50 miles pretty much in any direction. A LOT of mountains in Arizona. Never a heat problem, even on long climbs. I don't have an oil temp gauge, but my head temp gauge sits at about 300 on a hot day, and may climb to 350 on a long climb (30 miles) on a really hot day. Since 350 is right in the middle of the gauge, I assume it is normal. It never goes above the center point of the gauge. In any event, it has never been a problem. I always use synthetic oil.
