Thanks for all the fine suggestions. Andrew Fox suggested a solution might be found on Ben Huot's page.

Well, yes and no. I had a look and Ben had a name for all the pertinent pipes... nicely without those belts! So I had a look and reaching in from the top, I was able to grab and kind of wiggle that big metal pipe that comes from the pump to the thermostat. I could see it had worked loose... I was very happy to see that as I moved it, a little more coolant would drip out. So, I got the handy allen key socket on that sucker and tried to tighten it up. Seems to work, but the proof will be there in the AM to see if that leak has been sealed!

Thanks again... and what??? My coolant should be a different colour ??
