Andy, Your braking problem sounds like the brake master cylinder is going bad. Try bleeding the brakes to see if that helps at all. If the symptoms continue and you are not loosing any brake fluid from the wheel cylinders, them I would take a look at replacing the master cylinder. It is a fairly easy job to do and I can provide you instructions if you wish. Cheers and have a good 4th. Joel 89 Syncro Westy MV Rochester NY.

2nd problem is a loud tick from the left hand valve cover area, it goes away after a while too. Stuck valve?? ( I've never had this problem on my Westy)

Your input is greatly appreciated. I would consider trading this van for a decent BMW motorcycle. I'd keep it if it was pop top.
