Thanks for all the advice on ressurrecting the AC on my Volksy.  The retro-fit went well.  I don't have a manifold set, but took it to a mechanic/friend who did, and got it pumped down...  I recharged it myself, and had the amounts measured out...  Unfortunatly due to a faulty can of R-134, I'm not sure how much of that one went in...  What I'm wondering is what sort of pressures to expect when I hook it up to the guages?  It seems to be cooling pretty well although I've yet to try it in 90 degree heat.  Also, what vent temps should I expect?  I'd appreciate any thoughts and pointers you can give!  Thanks again!
