The Vanagon-specific sensor for '86-91 Vanagons (a direct-fit OEM replacement) is part number 13931, which is $123.50 with listmember discount. The generic Ford style equivalent is 13913 (note number reversal) for $39.95. We stock both. Both are by Bosch, which is the name brand and the original equipment supplier to VW. As with the '83-85 sensors, the overwhelming majority of our customers do use the cheaper one with no problem. In fact I have had one on my own '89 Westy for two years so far. But like I said, we do carry both options, so it's your call. If you want to play it safe I'm more than happy to sell you the $123 one. - Ron Salmon The Bus Depot, Inc.
