I drain my tank every time I use it. I leave the drain cover off and start running water into the fill before I put the cap back on, it flushes out any dust that might be in there. I drink bottled water when I camp, same stuff I drink at home in 3 gallon jugs. Depending on your location you could have many different minerals and chemicals in your tap water .......... better to not take any chances. If you ever get stomach cramps or diarrhea while camping, head straight home. Some water borne germs are pretty nasty.
