You mean the hose kit that you ordered from places like Vanagain or Bus Depot had some hoses that didn't fit? I have a 1983.5 Westy and need to replace my rotting rubber hoses as soon as I get the monster back on the road again. Since I've been trying to figure out how to replace the rubber cheaply, I've taken some notes from vanagon list posters. Some of the notes are at the link below.

I'm thinking of buying the kit right now, but if other people are having an okay time sourcing stuff from NAPA, I may go that route.
