Hey Guys,

I just picked up a 1981 Vanagon L. 7 pass. and I have a few questions:

1st, what should the oil pressure be at idle? 2500 r.p.m.? w.o.t.? Anyone have these numbers? My oil light is coming on when the motor is warm and the bus is at idle. It goes away as soon as I "goose" the throttle, but I want to check and see if the sending unit is wrong, or the pressure is in fact low. I have a guage which I'll hook up to the sending unit orifice, but I need some reference numbers to check against.

2nd, what is the connector that comes from under the intake manifold (pass. side at the throttle body area) through the tranny/engine connection, that loops over the tranny and forward toward the front of the bus? It seems to be 2 strand twisted until it comes into the engine compartment and then becomes a male 3-prong inside the engine bay? It looks just like an O2 sensor wire, but I don't see one on my exhaust anywhere. Yikes. P-mail me and I can shoot pictures to better describe this connector.

3rd, what is the "pickup" unit under the engine on the passenger side bolted to the starter and near the pass. side inner c.v. joint?

Are #2 and #3 the same?

TIA,

Ward
