Subject:      stopping a slight oil leak?

i have a leak on my 1.9L 84 wbx powered vanagon.
it is a slight leak that goes away when the engine is warm, but persists
otherwise. It appears to be coming from the seals where the push-rod tubes
mate with the block. How can i stop these leaks? do i need to replace
these seals or can i smear some goop on them? If i have to replace these
seals, can i do it with the engine in the bus and the head in place?
