I take my vehicle to a decent VW shop when I'm too lazy, too rich or too clumsy to work on it myself, frankly for the time it takes to go through an oilchanger including a wait in line, I can do it myself and make sure it's done properly, not to mention know the quality of the filter and rest assured that all is tightend etc. As bonus you are guaranteed that someone who gives a rip and maybe has a little skill has looked over the motor for at least a couple seconds so anything obvious has a chance of being spotted.

John.....That'd TICK me off, too. You might want to educate these fools when you pull into the oil-change place or even to your favorite VW mechanic and let them know what has been happening! Then, they break 'em, they fix 'em! That'd be what I'd do; just to CYA. Hope that works and hope it helps. That's why I do ALL my own oil changes now; last time I went into the Valvoline Station (supplied my own oil and filter) the V'gon leaked a lot of oil.....like drip, drip, drip! I got underneath and tightened the oil filter. It was screwed on by hand and just left hanging there; the morons! I decided it is better to take the time myself, even if I don't have any time to spare, and it sure beats being P*SSED off! My 2sense worth! .........Rodney
