Subject: The West to East trek begins
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

On Saturday I purchased, in San Diego, my 2nd Vanagon...a rather nice burgundy 91 Westfalia Syncro. I drove it up to the Riverside area (to my brother-in-law's place) as the first shakedown. Most noticable issue was the AC wasn't working. Stopped in a shop on Sunday and they reported that the leak was in the low pressure line to the front. So tomorrow (if I'm lucky) I'll drop by one of the many VW dealers in this area hoping to pick up that low pressure line and get the AC fixed....but even if I don't, I'll be beginning my trek back to the East (Washington D.C. is the final destination).

Should be an interesting drive. This box has 221K miles on it, with (as far as known) the original engine. Drive shaft is rebuilt. AC compressor is new. Only minor dings (car door stuff) a few scratches. One broken tail lamp (but operational), one busted antenna. One missing knob on the front table and, of course, missing the vent cover for the refridgerator.

No rust on the seams (and only one minor spot near the propane hanger box.) It is missing the arms on the front chairs :(

Next stop (probably) will be someplace on the road to Telluride (probably Gallup, NM).
