Hi --

I haven't been on the vanagon list in a long time, HI! to those that recognize my name ;)

I'm parting out my '81 westy, and dumping the '82 diesel vanagon, either as a unit or as a TDI swap kit or for parts, whatever.

The '81 runs and drives, has gnarly body cancer (not rusted through anywhere but UGLY). The engine got a very careful rebuild about 40-50K ago but the bottom end is starting to get a bit clunky on startup so it's probably not worth much. It's also leaking oil from somewhere in the vicinity of the oil pump. The heads have had the full treatment from the California shop (I'm blocking on the name...) that installs reverse-tapered seats so they can never drop in on the pistons for a little visit.

The '82 diesel 7-seater has an excellent body but the tiny little rubber band is busted. I put a 1.6TD in it, but that one turned out to need a rebuild, and now I'm thinking that the finished engine might be happy in my "new" '82 diesel Rabbit.

The goodies are in Salt Lake City.

I still have a non-running '86 Syncro, waiting for the day that the 2.4TDI comes to the US... or something.

Cheers,

Gary
