If the PO had mismatched tires on it the viscous coupling may already be dead. You could try the VC test and see. If the VC is dead you could just choose not to worry about it and drive it back with mismatched tires. If the VC testes okay you could measure the circumfrence of each tire (would have to jack up to measure each tire off the ground)... if they are much different I wouldn't drive it with those tires. If you can't do either of these tests I would recommend not driving it more than a couple of miles with mismatched tires... but I don't think anyone knows how many miles will cause too much damage... I've heard for a mechanic that somehting like 20 miles will do it if the tires are very different.

If you don't remove the drive line then it should be towed with all four wheels on the ground.... or on a flatbed with all four wheels off the ground.
