Subject: floor jack repair?
Comments: To: Syncro <Syncro@egroups.com>

I have a 2 1/4 ton floor jack that will go up but not lift anything, and when I stop working the jack handle the lift arm drops slowly. It is not low on hydraulic oil. It seems to me it must be a seal or valve or something like that.

I hate to buy a new jack if this is an easy repair. I don't want to just take it all apart and begin yet another long term experiment.

If anyone knows how to go right to the problem and fix this thing I would MUCH appreciate your help. I can email photos of it if that will help.

The jack was marketed about 10 years ago by Dayton Tools... No. 690-J-214... Dayton Tools is (or was) the automotive division of Alltrade Inc.... apparently made in China to their specifications.

thanks for your help.
