It was my understanding that the "floats" is only required on portable
bottles.

Like your grill / BQue bottle.

Our LP Tanks are exempted ...... I thought.

Are you sure you didn't get some kid that didn't know better at your fill
place?

Subject: propane tank float question

Hi All,

New Mexico has recently passed a law requiring floats on all propane tanks
to prevent overfilling.  Standard propane tanks like those used for bbq's
can be adapted for ~$20 however it looks like a cumbersome process
involving mounting a tank on a contraption and pulling the stem out before
replacing it with a stem/float combination.

I'm wondering if anyone has had experience doing this on a Westy propane
tank and what-all is involved.  As it stands now, I can't get my tank
filled until I get it converted.  Sheesh!!!
