I was concerned about this after my latest modification. This project started with the oil drain having an oversized plug so I can not put a VDO oil temp sensor there. See:

Here I am test fitting the parts on a spare block. I eliminated the oil filler tube and in the vacated hole I mounted a plate I made with the new VDO oil temp sensor. Great, but now I had to come up with a new way to add oil. I combined a couple of high performance Type I parts from CB Performance and replaced the plastic breather tower with this aluminum tower you see in the picture. It has both a vent and a oil cap.

So far so good. With 218K+ miles on the engine I thought blowby might be a problem. In reality I think the amount of scavange is metered by the in line metal plug (digifant only) with the small opening through it. So a straight through tower might not increase the air flow. Just a thought.
