When my van is restarted hot it tends to idle high. Recently I fixed the idle switch/sensor. Now the van decelerates properly and idles better when cold. Warm idle is still a problem. Before I fixed the idle switch it would idle at about 2000 RPM when hot. Now there seem to be a battle between the idle switch and whatever is making it idle high. The idle jumps around between 1000 and 2000 RPM. Going up to 1600 RPM then down to 1200 then up to 1400 then down to 1200 then up to 1800.... After a few minutes this goes away. If the van is hot then this does not happen. Turn off the van, start it again and the idle problem starts. I have check both the temperature sensors and they seem to be OK. Anybody know what this could be? Thanks, Ron Maxseiner 1985 GL 'Stinky Pete' |
