Coincidentally, I saw a cream-colored 83.5-85 Westy this morning on the way
to work at the I-25/225 split in excellent condition...I was the guy in the
blue '85 to the right of you (with a busted radiator hose spewing antifreeze
out of the rear end) waving hello.

Simon,
I live very close to that Hamburger Stand on Union Ave. and I see Vanagons
all the time in and around Lakewood and Golden. I have seen the Westy you
are talking about (I think it is the same one, how many yellow-cream
colored/air-cooled Vanagons in great shape are there in Lakewood?) He lives
in the condos behind my house near Kipling and Florida. I have yet to catch
him getting into his Vanagon, but when I do I will see if he remembers the
guy in the Rabbit flapping his arms. I drive a 1987 Wolfram (dark) Gray
Wolfy GL weekender with the "Carat 2" 15" alloys, if you see me, just flap
those arms and I will know who it is!

Was anybody on the list on C-470 Westbound today, and then parked at the
Wells Fargo on Union Ave. near the Hamburger Stand? You were driving a
water cooled 1983.5-1985 sorta yellow-cream-colored Westy in really nice
shape, I was in the faded Rabbit GTI trying to communicate, through
gestures in your rear-view mirror, that I, too, was a Westy driver,
although I may not have looked the part at the time, and that I
appreciated your nice van.
