Normal issue is, the wrong weight of oil (10w30 oil in a Vanagon will almost always cause this once the engine has gotten warm.) However, it isn't impossible that the oil pressure switch has gone bad. My '86 Syncro had one its pressure switches go bad last year...most annoying to figure out....since it has TWO of them (I think the regular Vanagons have but one)...and the shop kept checking only one of the switches...until I suggested the other one might be the problem.
