If you have a few more HP than stock they will be fine. I am running 6.5R16 on my Syncro DoKa which are about 0.5" taller than a 205R16 which would put them in the 29.5" tall ballpark. They look really nice! See http://www.fastforward.ca/gallery/1988SyncroDoKa.jpg for what these tires look like on the truck and http://www.fastforward.ca/gallery/Fulda205Michelin65.jpg to see what the 6.5R16s look like in comparison to a 205R16 - I love the tread on the Michelin XCL tires - anyone interested in some of these - I can get them used.

My wife just picked up the new 235/70/16 BFG mud tires mounted on the CV-900 alloy wheels. She left me this phone message:

"Do you know how big these are? The tire store guy could not believe we were going to put them on the vanagon. "

Guess I'll have a look when I get home.
