Subject: FS: RARE middle/center (swiveling) seat for '85 Westy
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hello -

I am selling a very rare center (middle) swiveling seat for an '85 Westfalia. I searched the archives and found that Ron Salmon from the Bus Depot was selling one of these back in June of '99. I'll just copy his description since it fits mine perfectly:

"...there was an actual optional Westfalia seat for that year. It is a very rare item, having been a rather expensive option at the time... It snaps right into the seat tracks under the carpet (found on most Westies through somewhere around '87). It swivels 360 degrees, just like the front seats, and has a storage compartment below it. The seat is tan velour (same as used on the '85-87 range GL Westies), but since the seat tracks on it are standard Vanagon, any seat could be substituted." (The only thing Ron didn't mention in this description is the seatbelt.)

This seat is in EXCELLENT condition. I'm not even sure if it's ever been used. I'm the third owner of the van and, as far as I know, everyone that's had the van has just kept the seat in storage.

For some frame of reference on price: Ron was selling his seat for $250 plus shipping. Therefore, my price is $250 -or best offer- (because it is such a rare item). I would REALLY rather not ship this thing as it is seriously heavy (and very awkward because the bottom is so much heavier than the top). If someone is really desparate to have it, I suppose we could figure out what the shipping options are (ship by freight? I've never done that before..), but it would be great to sell it to someone in the area/region who can pick it up or meet me somewhere. I live in Minneapolis, MN, and frequently travel to Madison, WI.

Feel free to email with any questions. Figured I'd start with the list and if the seat doesn't sell here I'll post it on eBay.

Thanks!

JJ '85 Westy (no name yet)
