I have looked thru the archives to see if there is a similar problem posted, but nothing fits. So I am hoping for some suggestions from the listees..here goes... Our '85 Westy is still in it's "shakedown mode" after having the head gaskets replaced 2 weeks ago.It has been running remarkably well considering that it sat for 2 years. Here's the problem (du jour)... Idles rough after about 5 minutes running..engine starts smooth...then turns to rough idle. When I put it in gear and press the accellerator it tries to stall out, leaving you sputtering in the road. When you put it in "park" or "neutral" the engine accelerates fine when the pedal is pushed. Once the engine is warm the acceleration problem stops, but the engine remains rough-idling. It has new Bosch Platin plugs. Other that the rough idle problem, when the engine is warm it runs fine, but I think that the gas mileage could be better...but that's another email for another day :P Thanks in advance! Tracey |
