If you are in Eastern Sierras don't miss Lundy Canyon, arguably most beautiful in all Sierras. going N on 395 there is turn-off ab. 2 miles past Lee Vining almost past Mono Lake. Camping is plentiful and natural, large lake w. small supply store. Scenery is fantastic and great hiking for kids too. Drive all the way to the end of road to see falls etc. Mono lake has great scenery too, specialy South Tufa and Panum crater full of obsidian. There is one great route you could take crossing southern Sierras at Sherman Pass. Beautiful mountain road with lots of wild places to camp. Could drive 178 thru Kern river canyon, Lake Isabella north to Cherry Hill road and go on thru Sherman Pass all the way to 395 thru Kennedy Meadows. On the way there see Horse meadow and Big meadow. There is great camping by Big Meadow(wild) Mammoth area is great too, Devil's Postpile, Rainbow falls, Red's meadow etc. Lots of lakes, scenery is nice. Take a dip in Owens Hot creek, you'll love it, road by Mammoth Airport, just south of 203. As for Syncro fun, try Brislecone Pine forest from Big Pine, there are some great roads, one going above 12,000' and scenery out of this world. Great descent to Bishop on 4wd road. There is much more to see, could name 100 more places... Leon Torrance, CA
