I have this feature on my Westy, which is an '81. Perhaps they removed it on later models, or maybe yours is just missing.

My westy is a 1987. Last winter we rented a westy in Hawaii < donąt know what year it was < but it had a neat design twist on the stove top which Iąd love to have on mine. Inside the stove/sink lid is an inner stainless steel panel, which is designed to be lowered over the stove top and used as a dish rack when washing dishes. I assume this was a design innovation in some year after 1987.
