howdy all.

regarding my new 82 diesel westy.....

The odometer problem was as someone mentioned, the gear had slid off the
shaft
and was not contacting the worm gear, pushed it back on and added a spot
of thick superglue, and its made it 6 miles so far ! maybe good for
another 85k.

Found and installed the upper bed board, and to celebrate slept in it
last night, pretty comfy up there,,, now the question is, what is the
"right" way to get up there ?

no luck on finding a sliding door panel in Sacramento.

  or dash heater vent panel.  lots of them available but none have this
heater duct on top of the floor running between the seats like this
diesel. looks to be a diesel exclusive part.

too embarrassed to say why the little air vent contol bulb was on....
<grin> but suffice it say it is on when the light switch is on.....

The Fridge did start easy after running it on 110 for a few hours as
suggested in the fridge files.

figured out the problem of the door window raising mechanism, fixed it,
and still picked up a much smoother one at the salvage yard.  not easy
to get in and out...

Installed the seat with arm rests, much nicer, even though its blue.,
instead of brown.
had to remove the arm rest from the door so the door would close.

I now have a spare speedo from an 84 gl, tested and working, showing
about 162k available for $30

a spare blinker relay for $5

an 83- 84 i think., vanagon window crank $3

2 plastic inner door latch liners $3

looking for a Haines  or Clymer manual,

ps, has anyone removed the fabric tent ?  i'd like a damaged one for a
pattern, so i can make one with side windows also.
