I'm replying to my own post, since I have subsequently found out more info from Michelin. In a phone conversation they would only recommend the Agilis in size 185/14 and with a load index of 99R. Funny how their web site recommends the Rainforce MX4 (LI 95T) but on the phone they recommend a different tire. I expressed concern that the ideal width for the six-inch alloy rim was 205, but the Michelin customer service rep assured me that Michelin had VW certification for this slightly narrower tire on the optional wider rims.

Now, does anyone want to buy a firstborn child? Not seriously, of course. It feels like I'll need to sell one, though, since my local Discount Tire dealer wants $118USD per tire for the Agilis. Ouch. Next tire change (which should be in a looong time, knock on wood) I'll be planning to get fifteen or sixteen inch rims and more common tires. Ouch again.

Regards, Rob
