Subject: Was: Why no reverse lights? Why is coolant light flashing? 85 No
              w: problems getting weird
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

So, I've gotten a ton of replies on my coolant light flashing problem. I took the sensor out and cleaned it. The O ring looked like it had seen better days. But, I reinstalled it anyway. Of course it started leaking. So yesterday I ran to the dealership to pick up an o ring. The sensor with o ring was 9 bucks. So I just decided to replace it, plus some of the plastic on my sensor was cracked. I'm now back to my old problem with a twist. When I start the van cold the light will be on until it gets up to normal temp, then the light will go off. The van had been this way for some time. I never worried about it since I knew it had autobahn water mixature. And it never got to hot, sure the gauge climbs in traffic, but goes back down then I get moving or the fan kicks in.

However this is were it gets weird. Last night I noticed that if I turn the key and count to ten or so (longer then the normal test blinks). Then start the van the light goes out. What does this mean? What is this Coolant Low Level Warning control unit? Where is this unit located?

This thing is driving me sort of nuts and I want to solve the problem. I just want to get to the point were it blinks a few times at startup and then works correctlly. No red blinking light when I drive down the road.

Thanks for all the help.
