As usual one generally gets what one pays for. After some issues in an upgrade, I swapped out the old Delco Maintenance Free group 41 for a new...Delco Maintenance Free Group 41. These units are the state of the art in starting batteries and are heavily warranteed and in my opinion worth the money. My Delco that I exchanged was three years old but had been idle for over a year while some nasties regarding a motor swap from TCCH/Vanagon Projekt were in process.

The Delco folks didn't bat an eye. I called first, read them the serial number, and asked if they had a replacement in stock. No, but they had the latest technology one in stock. I hunted them down in an industrial area of Tacoma and presented my dead, mistreated, battery, and whipped out my checkbook.

The fellow at the counter hefted the old battery onto a shelf of similar old batteries and carried a new, fully warranteed battery out to the car. I followed him back in and he made out some paperwork as I filled out the check to Delco and asked the amount.

No charge, he said. Thanks for using Delco products.

Will I recommend Delco? Just did.
