Brent - the hike into Lyell [sic] Canyon at Tuolumne Meadows sounds like exactly what you're looking for. It's a very mild flat hike along a small river, but as you go further, the mountains on either side start rising higher and higher and it's quite beautiful, but I guess that's understood since it's Yosemite. After about a mile you hit the water and stay with it for as long as you like, but it's pretty flat the whole way, and the water is beautiful with trout everywhere, but I don't know if it's legal to fish there. It's all back country camping and quite primitive, though. Good swimming holes all over too.

Don't think you could bring the Syncro though.

Hope this helps.
