Harald, Thanks very much, no problem understanding your English. ... this is all valuable information - a good compendium of T3 related data, especially the hints and tips and new supply of parts opening up... a decoupler is high on the list! Will credit the gearbox ratio/codes to you of course if Club80-90 use it. Yes, we have not got all our details correct yet, will try and do better as time goes on! Hi Clive, my English knowledege is very poor, I hope that you can understand what I write.
>The gear ratio and code chart is excellent information. > >I would like to put this gear ratio chart up on the UK's Club80-90 website >syncro section (www.club80-90.com) - is this OK with you? >It looks like it was originally a spreadsheet - if it's an Excel >spreadsheet, any chance I could have a copy so I can annotate it for >personal use? The Excel File is attached. Please put a notice at the File that it is from me: Harald@vwbus-online.de
>I would like to put this gear ratio chart up on the UK's Club80-90 website >syncro section (www.club80-90.com) I think you men: http://www.club80-90.co.uk ??? I know this site. Btw: The T3 2WD was produced in Graz from April 1990 on to November 1992. There were all T3 modells produced, not only fully loaded modells as you write at your page. I have a option list too, here you can see it (will be cointinued: http://www.t3-forum.de/user/harald/M-Liste.htm
My hobby is the VW Bus, especially the T3 and syncro. I had four Busses since 1982 and repaired all on this cars by myself. Even syncro transmission. I live in Graz and visited the Steyr Daimler Puch factory some times. So I know some very helpful people there. One time the project manager of the syncro development gave me the key of a prototype and said: `Drive so long you want and bring me back the key when you are back...` It was a red Crewcab 16 and had all features which where available. It made this pictures when I visited the Steyr Daimler Puch factory on October 1992: http://www.vollstoff.de/VW_Typ2_T3/Redstar_TDI/Graz/graz.html I have no own webspace, so Thomas Heitler took it at his page. Here you can see my car: http://members.aon.at/vau-weh-bus/vau-weh-bus-frames/stammtisch/st020518/ind ex.htm http://members.aon.at/vau-weh-bus/vau-weh-bus-frames/stammtisch/st020518/b05 .jpg http://members.aon.at/vau-weh-bus/vau-weh-bus-frames/stammtisch/st020518/b07 .jpg http://members.aon.at/vau-weh-bus/vau-weh-bus-frames/stammtisch/st020518/b08 .jpg http://members.aon.at/vau-weh-bus/vau-weh-bus-frames/stammtisch/st020518/b48 .jpg http://members.aon.at/vau-weh-bus/vau-weh-bus-frames/stammtisch/st020518/b53 .jpg http://members.aon.at/vau-weh-bus/vau-weh-bus-frames/stammtisch/st020518/b47 .jpg Here you can see a picture from making my trailer from a back of a crewcab. It is not painted, I want to paint it red and white like my Bus: http://www.dokadriekus.com/ fotogalerij Ga naar pagina 6 I am collecting all I can get about The Bus. For example I have a collection of all T3 brochures, even from USA and South Africa. Or Road tests, Repair manuals (from VW), Videos, dealer handbook, some drawings from the factory about the manual engaged 4WD and South african oil splash plates (take a look at this pages: http://www.vollstoff.de/VW_Typ2_T3/SA/SA_Getriebe/sa_getriebe.html) And microfiches even from USA and South Africa and had contact to the manager of VW Microbus factory in Uitenhage. I´m collecting rare optional features from the Bus too. Like the manual engaged 4WD, which I have from a prototype (only 20 were built from this). Here are details from a VW manual: http://www.t3-forum.de/user/harald11/29.gif http://www.t3-forum.de/user/harald11/30.gif http://www.t3-forum.de/user/harald11/31.gif http://www.t3-forum.de/user/harald11/32.gif http://www.t3-forum.de/user/harald8/33.gif
You can buy rebuilds of it at: http://www.syncro-bernd-jaeger.de/English/english.html *Zuschaltb. Allrad*: http://www.syncro-bernd-jaeger.de/Zuschaltb__Allrad/body_zuschaltb__allrad.h tml It is made from original drawings from VW.
>...and have some gearbox >or diff noise (some grinding in lower gears, but they change and work OK). Some noises at low revolutions are normaly because the productional tolerance (I hope this is the correct word for it).
>Might I beg one more favour? The DJ engine - mine's not running that well at >idle, rough (although a VERY noisy tappet/pushrod is there sometimes and not >others). Do you know if the Bentley manual details this engine's setup >properly - seems all vanagon and syncro site talk about is Digifant engines, >not Digijet's - the Bentley is nearly £60 here, but if you know it to be >good on this engine, I've no problem with that! I think its the same problem as it was on mine. The idle stabilisation vent (clean with carb cleaner and then WD 40) or blackbox near the right taillight. In the blackbox the transistor and voltage stabilisation unit is bad at much cars. You can change it for chep money from the electronic shop and a soldering iron.
