I just obtained a 3# Halon extinguisher to replace the tubby dry chemical unit I have had in the van ever since I discharged my antique CO2 extinguisher into the firewall of a burning hot rod on the hwy. Today's deal was a bit of an "under the table" affair, not supposed to have such easy access to Halon anymore. Anyhoo, its a nice slim bit of work which will fit easily either behind the driver's seat or at the door pillar next to the sliding door. The subject of extinguishers has come up from time to time on the list and once there was a bit of a thread about either having some remote activated unit in the engine compartment or some sort of access hole/passage to direct a hand-held unit at an engine fire. Has anyone actually done either of these things? Alistair |
