Hello All. I guess I'm writing this more for updated info and moral support (or perhaps someone to knock some sense into me...?) Anyway, my wife and I are planning to take the children (3 years old and 7 months old) from L.A. to SLC in early Sept. to see my brother-in-law get married. Here's the thing. I've (and my wife,) have made the trip several times (including once in a TYPE 3 that had been sitting for eight years, running through two snowstorms on three cylinders and only partial brakes.) Young and foolish, but thanks to the Volksgod we made it! Being older (and still foolish, but trying not to be...) I'm wondering if the trip may be a mistake given the kids ages. I know that parts of Nevada and Utah (and California, for that matter,) will be hotter than hell, and if we break down, it could be dangerous for the kids. How much mecanical help can we expect between LV and SLC? Aside from getting the van completely ready (which it is,) and upgrading to AAA PLus, any suggestions? Thanks for easing the mind and words of wisdom/voices of reason.
