I know how you feel. After I got divorced, I had a chance to pick up an '85 Westfalia for $2000. I always wanted one. I still had my '86 GL, which I had had since new. I (We) bought it just before the birth of our third (and last) child. I would have loved to have bought a camper then, but they were only made for 4 (or so I thought). I did not know about the fifth seat option (bad VW dealer!). Anyway, I sold this '86 after I had started to sort out the '85 camper and knew I was going to keep it. The person would bought the '86 was a VW fanatic (driving a brand new bright yellow Beetle!) and he was buying it for his daughter to drive to Washington state. (I live in Delaware, so this was pretty much coast to coast.) I was sorry to see it go, but I was glad he bought it. He paid $3000 for it, which was my asking price. Didn't even try to offer anything less. I knew he was happy with it. I think he replaced a fuel filter and did some brake work, and it made it to the west coast.

Good Luck, Jay
