I consistently get 20mpg since my 87 was new. In bad conditions, such as lots of wind or heavy traffic, I have gotten 18-19 but rarely (this is a regular 7-pass Wolfsburg van, not a pop-top).

Fred, people kid themselves about mpg, also try driving without any shoes on for a few thousand miles and read the road ahead better - they're the real keys to getting better mpg.
