Malcolm,

The emblems are held in place primarily by double sided adhesive trim tape.
Probably 3M. There are small studs which are then pushed onto plastic
grommets. That is all. You can carefully pry the emblems off. I find they are
much easier to remove on a warn sunny day. The adhesive gets a bit softer
then. The studs in back are most likely used to locate the nameplate properly
more than any other purpose (IMHO).
